Working up a Sweat in Asia

Oh my, but the symposium has already come and gone, and I am already with a wonderful group of sketchers in Cambodia!!  Yikes, now I know why many people post their work AFTER traveling,
as it is so hard to find the time to write, edit, etc.  So I will also post sketches, photos and stories
in the next weeks. I was able to do 3 workshops and gave a lecture twice, which went well!  It's so gratifying to have people come up and tell me that they finally understand perspective!

Singapore was beastly hot, you walk five minutes and your clothes are drenched.  This made it quite exhausting,  and it's almost the same here in Siem Reap where it is not quite as hot, but more humid...also rainy season. Honestly, I have never sweat so much in my entire life.

Perspiration aside, I have the wonderful good fortune to be traveling now with an amazing and quite large sort of ad hoc group...Marc Taro Holmes and wife Laurel, Shari Blaukopf and husband, Gail Wong and husband, Liz Steel from Australia, my roommate Suhita Shirodkar, plus Shiho, Joel, Suta, Amber and Daniel, Sean and tomorrow Simo Cappecci and Lapin...we have all come primarily to sketch the temples near Siem Reap, Cambodia, including the world heritage site Angkor Wat.

So cool to see this group at work up close, I admire them so.  We are a pretty diverse bunch in terms of sketching styles, sharing tips for tools, pens, paints, ooing and ahing over the day's work in the evening.

Here is my first sketch at the first temple...
My sketching spot midst the stones...
First sketch, the tree seems to grow right out of the
temple stones...
